LA JOLLA, California (November 2007) - As the year comes to a close, The Lodge at Torrey Pines® celebrates an impressive array of prestigious awards that affirm its position among the world's premier luxury resort destinations. The coveted AAA
Five Diamond Award, one of the travel industry's
most prestigious honors, has been conferred upon The Lodge for the fifth
consecutive year. The Lodge remains among the top tier hotel properties
in North America, sharing the Five Diamond category with outstanding properties
including The Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel, The St. Regis in New York,
and The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas. The Lodge's latest acclaim comes from Condé Nast Traveler's November 2007 issue. The Lodge ranked among the TOP 50 Mainland U.S. Resorts in Condé Nast Traveler's The Best in the World Readers' Choice Awards. It is a great honor for The Lodge to have the distinction of being positioned alongside some of the most established and time-honored resorts in North America. In their January 2007 issues, two important travel industry publications included The Lodge at Torrey Pines® on their lists of the world's best hotels. The Lodge was named among Travel + Leisure Magazine's international "T + L 500" list and Top 100 Hotels in the Continental US and Canada; hailed as "an architectural gem" by the magazine's editors and reporters. Condé Naste Traveler honored The Lodge with a position on its 13th Annual Gold List of the World's Best Places to Stay. Compiled from a survey of the magazine's subscribers, the listing particularly noted the resort's "appealing setting."
The 2007 ZagatSurvey of America's Top Restaurants listed the A. R. Valentien restaurant in its annual guide with the restaurant scoring "high marks" among the top five restaurants in the San Diego region. The restaurant was praised as a "great getaway" with "superb" Californian cuisine and service that is "attentive from the moment you drive up."
These honors echo warm accolades received in the preceding year. The Summer 2006 issue of The Robb Report listed The Lodge at Torrey Pines® as one of 100 Best Places to Stay in 2006, citing the resort's "classic Craftsman ambience." "If time is the only true luxury," enthused Carol Brodie - who, as Chief Luxury Officer for the Robb Report's parent company, knows a thing or two about good living - "then the time spent at this heavenly oasis was the most luxurious of all!".
The Lodge at Torrey Pines® is a tribute to the California Craftsman Movement and is modeled after Greene & Greene's famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, California, two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture.
